Happy New Year 2009

HAPPY NEW YEAR
Life was always good for me on even numbered years. However, 2008 served up a lot of interesting situations which found me pulling my hair out (if I had hair). Struggle, lose, and stress appeared to be the theme of 2008.
I’m hoping the odd numbered 2009 brings a much better experience for me [...]
‘Tis The Season
By Urban Thought at 25 December, 2008, 12:00 am
A celebrator of Christmas, I am not.
After a conversation with some folk at the job I told them about the only Christmas I remember.
Under the tree sat three gold wrapped boxes and a couple of red wrapped boxes.
My cousin crept out of his room and started ruffling through all the presents under the tree. He [...]
Happy Holidays
By Urban Thought at 24 December, 2008, 7:00 am
Many of you may be on your way out of town already, taking the day off or at work at this very moment. As for me, I’m at the office until the end of the day and then I’m tripping it to another cold place to spend a few days with family.
What ever you end [...]
First Day of the Last Month of The Year
By Urban Thought at 1 December, 2008, 9:27 am
In other words: It’s December 1 and it is also Monday.
What did I learn this weekend? Just a little bit of something.
I prefer to be at work than at home.
Sunday I found myself sitting on the couch eating everything in sight and watching none other than Britney Spears on MTV. I’m not a fan [...]
Halloween 2008
By Urban Thought at 12 November, 2008, 12:00 am
Halloween has come and gone but I did say I would display photos at some point. I’ve been pretty busy trying to figure out this new plug-in, which has a bit of a learning curve (or I’m just that slow).
The photos are not of the parade itself but of folks who happen to be in [...]
It’s Halloween, Again
By Urban Thought at 31 October, 2008, 8:52 am
Trick or Treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat… Not something I’ve ever sang but I can hear it in my head as if it was yesterday. No one ever came knocking on my door during my younger years, living in the projects. However, I do recall knocking on a few doors [...]

People often say good men are hard to find
And though that may be true
I know my mom found a great one
The day that she met you
You had your rough edges
And you were humble enough
To let God iron them out
Instead of acting all tough
You were patient and kind
Thoughtful yet aggressive
Nothing like my dad
For he was too [...]
Rican Weekend
By Urban Thought at 8 June, 2008, 3:03 pm
If you ask some folk what truly sets off the Summer they’ll tell you the Puerto Rican Day Parade. But unlike the many Puerto Ricans that will be out today (or are out already) there are some who try to avoid the parade at all costs.
I sent one of my many Puerto Rican friends a [...]
First Day of Spring Is Here 2008
By Urban Thought at 20 March, 2008, 12:48 pm
Spring is upon us and Easter is just up the block.
In my younger years Spring and Easter meant so much more to me than it did now.
Spring is one of my favorite seasons. It bring a sense of renewal. My remembrance of Spring has more to do with sunshine and warm weather. It also was [...]
Remembering King
By Urban Thought at 21 January, 2008, 12:01 am
Today is the holiday known as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. If I have that incorrect don’t shoot me. I know today is a day off for most. Some people in our future won’t even understand the impact of the man’s work. Others won’t care to remember, they’ll just relish in the privilege of [...]
