Two Steps Forward: Blasting head first into the 21st Century

So I have to say, gadgets and gizmos aren’t my thing. Call me old fashion if you want to, but there is something sacred about using a pen and a piece of paper and actually writing someone or even better dusting off those CDs (no, they aren’t Frisbees) and LPs and jamming to the music of your youth in its classic form.

For years I was tickled by the concept of an iPod – thinking it was a fad – yes I said it. . . I thought it was a fad. And I am woman enough to admit it! Here is my reasoning behind it: anything that changes versions every year to two years is rather schizophrenic. First, as a consumer, if I’m going to spend my hard earned cash – especially in the midst of the declining global economy – I need to make sure that the product that I am buying is the best for my buck. Secondly, I don’t want to get upset when I see the next model, knowing that it is of better quality (and offers more features) for the dollar amount that I paid.

Sounds fair, right?

So on a whim, I decided to venture into Best Buy and ended up walking out with an iTouch with the hope that I wouldn’t be too overwhelmed by all of the colors, bells and whistles that this baby came with. After struggling to open the packaging (as if Apple really didn’t want me to have it – only gaze at it lovingly), I turned it on and I felt like my whole world changed in the matter of seconds. My little silver gadget whispered and bellowed with its colorful images, finger swooping ease and rather friendly instruction guide, which took me a little minute to find on the machine.

And my mind opened, the words started to pour on the pages and I realized that I can’t ever go back to the way I was living before.

As complex as this little jewel box of fun has been to master and as slow as I feel as I try to understand the nuances of Podcast vs. Application (and really why I need all of these things. . .) owning a literal genie in the palm of my hands is worth the trial and error, iTunes, syncing nightmares that may come with it.

iPhone anyone?

I love my iPod — I listen to more music now than at any time since college. Of course, I’m still using my four-year-old refurbished black-and-white 40GB iPod, but it’s only 86% full so I don’t need a new one yet! ;-)

I am so far behind. The last phone we bought didn’t even have internet capabilities. I was excited that it ‘flipped’. haha. I’ve been wanting something new, so this gives me some thought. Thank you! As for MP3 players, I’m actually quite happy with my little Muvo. It’s basic and easy to manage. BUT now that you’ve already got me inspired to upgrade things, I’m curious what this can do for me.

My partner has gone through half a dozen pocket-sized listening gadgets in the ten years we’ve been together. I can’t even remember my own cell phone number!

Ah, welcome to the wonderful world of Apple products. Addicting is it not/ I have no idea how I got by without an iPod. But a touch? Now that is something glorious.

I remember the first time I used and Ipod….I was walking around campus snapping my fingers and bopping my head to run and errand and suddenly realized that I was doing a little too much to actually be on the clock .lol

But that is just how far gone that Ipod had me lol
