Not So Wordless Wednesday

By Urban Thought at 26 November, 2008, 2:54 pm

Today is Wednesday but it won’t be wordless (at least not for me). My camera isn’t connecting to my computer correctly so I’m stuck with inability to upload photos. I don’t have time to remedy the situation, working for the next two days, so I’ll have to handle that during the weekend.

Thankful

By Dan-Sean Mankind at 23 November, 2008, 12:00 am

With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, I have many thoughts in my head about what I am thankful for. Those who know me are aware that I’ve endured many hardships and made many accomplishments as well. I’m going to share some things that I am truly thankful for. Hopefully, this list will inspire some one else [...]

The Big O

By The Orange Phoenix at 20 November, 2008, 12:00 am

The Big O
(Freedom song)
The day after
Like any other moment of drawing together
Riding through to the perfect sigh
The enriching pain and pleasure
Of recognition is at hand.
No longer will I hide
My beauty
My spirit
My power
The style that lives on the darker side
Walking though humble
Afraid to acknowledge another brother’s smile
I saw light beaming out of the creases of
Brown men [...]

Halloween 2008

By Urban Thought at 12 November, 2008, 12:00 am

Halloween has come and gone but I did say I would display photos at some point.  I’ve been pretty busy trying to figure out this new plug-in, which has a bit of a learning curve (or I’m just that slow).
The photos are not of the parade itself but of folks who happen to be in [...]

Rebirth of the Slick: Finding Love in the Big City XXII

By The Orange Phoenix at 10 November, 2008, 9:22 am

I have been reborn.
I haven’t found the time machine that takes me back to the days when things were simpler – childhood – being catered to, feeling the weight of your mother’s smile impress itself upon you like leaky faucet, consistent and at times nerve racking but ever missed when it isn’t around. We [...]

Leap Frog

By Urban Thought at 8 November, 2008, 8:56 am

While walking through the city looking for a place to eat The Orange Phoenix pointed the frog out to me. We started doing word play. Corny as we can be with objects, findings, and random thoughts, today’s post is a sample of the corny side of Urban Thought with the influence of The Orange Phoenix.

Door 2 Door Trash Inquiry

By Urban Thought at 7 November, 2008, 2:47 pm

While walking out of my building this morning I came across a bag of trash blocking the door.

After returning to the building and watching a bit of the morning news, I heard a series of knocks in the hallway followed by several doors closing.
And then, I heard a knock on my door.
“Housing,” the voice said [...]

Origins: Hillary Clinton’s Reality

By Urban Thought at 6 November, 2008, 3:44 pm

Yesterday’s Wordless Wednesday photo was taken on Halloween. The display was found in front of a store front in NYC. That very day NYC held the Halloween Parade. I’ll have some photos from the event up this weekend along with some from Election Day.

Colorful Voting, Exercise Your Right

By Urban Thought at 4 November, 2008, 1:41 pm

Something of concern is creeping into my head. Now I know that I’m not above knowing that I am black. I won’t even sit around and think that people don’t notice my race first. But I have to ask this question: Why do people keep saying that Barack Obama is “seeking to become the first [...]

Please Vote 2008

By Urban Thought at 3 November, 2008, 12:29 pm

You have to fight for your right to party vote.
One day away from Election Day and I find myself worried that I won’t be able to vote. Not because I am not registered. It is more of a concern because my name is spelled wrong on the books. It has been spelled wrong for years [...]
