What is this I see? What could this be? Perhaps a speck of dust or maybe a piece of lint. Could you possibly be a bead of sweat? Are my eyes playing tricks on me? Maybe its just the lighting in this room messing with me.
I try brushing you off and you’re still here. How did you get there? I look closer and am in awe of your presence. Where did you come from? Was I stressed out? Is this what caused you to appear?
I know my cousin was born with you. I know folks who have embraced you. I’m not scared of you but I feel I’ve now come to a crossroads. Am I old or just maturing? Is this a sign to settle down or just another step in the evolution of me?
Either way I’m going to embrace you. I won’t cover you up. I won’t pick you out. But I will accept you. I will allow you to grow and do your thing without intervention.
Hello grey hair. Welcome to my chin.

Aw! I’ve had grey hair for 5 years now. But at least its not on my chin….YET!
I cover mine. It’s my one big vanity. Sigh. I’m working on it though. None on my chin.
I have grey hair in places I don’t want to talk about. There’s always a little hair on my chin. I think I’ll cut mine now. Thanks.

Oh my…the gray hairs…
Thank goodness for hair coloring, is all I can say…
Look at you going the poetical route - me like, me likes!!
That was cute….but don’t try to slide out of finishing your “friends and money” story!
Cute way to tell us about a gray hair!
Dang on finding one and getting them (ok, it’s singular) one early must run in the family ‘cuz you’re like, what, 23??? OK, 27???
I read that facial hair can come from a different parent that’s why you’ll have men with say, blond head hair and reddish beard hair and all the various combinations. Seems like a lot of men still have no whites or grays on their head and then try growing a beard, see the whites or grays and shave it off!
I recall my first white hair - I think I had one in my early-mid twenties and I was under a lot of stress. I never touched it and sooner or later it fell out and I didn’t get another one until age 30 when I was under a lot of stress!
Now they are cropping up and are very weird. I have a post idea in mind for them but heck, so many post ideas, so little time to bring them to life.
I don’t pull them out and I’m not sure I’ll go the color route when they are in the majority. Based on mom’s and granny’s hair, it’ll be a while for me to get grayed in.
But back to you: that one on your chin may be stress or you’ll only get them on your chin and not your head. Or do you shave your head?
Thanks to InvisibleWoman for the reminder about your friends and money post!
I hear that it’s a REAL wake up call when you start getting them in OTHER places….
LOL!
i wish everyone was as accepting
Awesome descriptive writing… I grew my first grey hair around the age of 25 and once I cut my hair, it never grew back.
I have them coming in nicely on my scalp and that’s OK because I’d rather by grey than bald. But If I see them in other places it’s time for some waxing.
Keep growing those grey hairs and working out at the gym, Urban Thought, and you will be the hottest 35-year-old in your borough! Buff, well-employed, and mature, what’s not to like?
Meleah: Five years? Not bad. I’m glad they aren’t on your chin either. I find it interesting to see the random spots they grow on woman.
sdg1844: Do what makes you feel comfortable. At least hair is an easy fix. You either cut it off or color it.
Natural: Interesting. Don’t cut it off on my account though. Something I don’t care to see is a hair growing out of a mole. Anything else is acceptable. But who am I to judge?
MarvalousOne: Yeah, I think everyone is happy about hair dye.
Phoenix: Glad you approve. I didn’t think of it at poetic but you would know better than I.
IW: Thank you. I haven’t forgotten. I’ve been all blogged out lately. I’m still trying to catch up with life.
Ms. Q: Didn’t know that but that makes a great deal of sense. I have only grown a gray hair on my chin. I’m sure when it creeps into other places I’ll have to rethink some things.
Fitness Diva: Allow me to sleep on that. May I never wake up to the reality of such things. LOL
Rawdawg: Me too.
Dan-Sean: You’re a lucky dude. I wish it would stay away. People are now taking notice to it. Many in awe.
Ricardo: Works for some. Waxing though? Really?
Lavenderbay: I’m not near 35 yet. It is within reach but far enough to not worry too much. I’m sure by that time I will have them growing in other places. I hope they don’t but I’m sure they will.
