Spring is upon us and Easter is just up the block.
In my younger years Spring and Easter meant so much more to me than it did now.
Spring is one of my favorite seasons. It bring a sense of renewal. My remembrance of Spring has more to do with sunshine and warm weather. It also was a time for everyone to start wearing white. I’m sure we wear white any time of the year now but back in the day we had rules. You didn’t wear white until Easter came around and your last day to wear it was Labor Day. These rules aren’t the same any longer but it was nice while it lasted.
Easter is something else though. When Easter Sunday came around it was a perfect excuse for folks to wear combinations of pink, yellow and white. The one day you would find a family wearing all white. And I mean the whole family. Not just the girls but the guys too. Everyone decked out in white, from the hat to the socks and shoes. I hope those days have passed. A person wearing all white doesn’t have the same flair it did back in the day.
At any rate I think I just wanted to say: Enjoy Spring! May the new season bring you great joy and a sense of renewal.
I know for me I’ll enjoy it from the confines of my office as I will be working through the weekend. It isn’t warm outside here in NYC. Actually, the wind is blowing kind of heavy.

I loved your take on Spring. I hope you enjoy this Spring season also. Spring is my favorite season. Not too cold and not too hot. I also enjoy the beautiful bright colors that are on the trees as well as the colors people wear in the Spring season.
I used to love Easter with my patent leather Mary Janes and my little straw purses
(They weren’t white btw)
Ya know, I believe last Spring you wrote about childhood memories of spring. Spring really must be your favorite season!!
DSM: Thx bro… The colors that spring up this time of year are amazing.
IW: Did you wear jellies too? Just asking. The look you describe is classic.
Ms. Q: I believe you are correct. Spring is right up there with fall. I like them both.
It was only until about I was 8 years old that we went to church Easter Sunday. Mommy would never be so crass as to let me wear jellies at that age, haha
Growing up that was the only time I would allow my mother to put me in a dress.
Ah spring - patent leather shoes that get scratched just out of the box. . .
