A very sad image, but a great picture.
Great post. Please come see mine for today.
Happy WW!
As someone who lives in a rural area of Hawaii, I find it difficult to relate to this image personally — although the juxtaposition of the bouquet of roses, and the (apparently) homeless person is quite striking.
I’m just mad that they have Crocs on their feet. Freaking Crocs!
I’m loving the contrast of the flowers and the homeless guy.
happy WW!
Happy WW! Great photo of humanity…
Thank you for visiting WW meme today!
peace, Villager
This pic really leaves one thinking…
Great shot, happy WW!
Great shot.
My, that is quite sad.
I saw the Talk Soup episode the other week where they made fun of Top Model for having a homeless fashion shoot in an ally with homeless people.
Then I caught the replay of the actual episode.
I think the commoditizing of homelessness as fashion the way these people try to commoditize everything else, from Rasta style to tribal African looks is insulting and disgusting; and reflects the emptiness and shallowness of most folks in the fashion industry.
Where was that pic taken? Reminds a lot of a homeless, clearly insane woman we encountered on the trains of Chicago while on a visit when I was around 7. But she looked even worst than this lady. Still one of the scariest sites I’ve every seen.
Poor person, I guess they’re doing the best they can. The photo captures the image well though.
Happy WW!
ALL: Thank you for stopping through. Glad you felt something from the photo.
Mike: Most people who put crocs on know they are ugly. I’m with you. They should have never been made but people find them comfortable.
Yobachi:The picture was taken on the A Train during the off peak hours (local).
that is sooooo sad.
Urban, my question is the A - train in what city? Is it New York?
Yobachi: The A train is in NYC.
As usual,
poignant. . .
What an urban observation!
I used to live in NYC and this is an aspect of the city I don’t miss. I guess it exists here but it is so painfully out there in New York. I was struck more by the odd, almost fierce grip of the hands holding the flowers… and that the homeless have discovered crocs… Picture makes me sad… and reminds me how very lucky I am in my own life. Sorry. I’m not being very pithy, am I?
