Who Are You Voting For?
By Urban Thought on January 18, 2008 @ 1:00 am
After working the weekend, I’ve come to the conclusion that people are just as confused as I am as to who they may vote for president.
Here I am having a discussion with the Orange Phoenix, a blogger of Urban Observation, and a couple of other people of color. Someone happens to bring up the topic of who was going to vote for whom. Someone came out and said, “I don’t know if I’m voting for Osama or Bill.” I corrected her, “Obama and Hillary.” “What?”
The Orange Phoenix, correct me if I’m wrong, went on to say no one knows who Obama is. People confuse the two of
them - Obama & Osama, because in their eyes, they are one in the same. I cannot completely agree with that.
I mean come on… I know the turban dude from the Chi-town dude. I can see that one man is taller than the other. But honestly, the only question that most people ask is, “What has Obama done for me lately?” I’ve asked the same question of Hillary. Honestly, does any New Yorker out there know exactly what Hillary has done for the State of New York?
Speaking of Hillary, I’m not feeling the pouting fit, she put on a couple of weeks ago. So what you lost one primary election? Who cares? Is it enough to cry over? It may have worked, people came out and voted for the election that followed. However, I ask you this, who wants a President that will be on the verge of tears if they don’t happen to get their way? Some people say that this is why a woman shouldn’t be in office, she is emotionally sensitive and if she cries over an election then how is she supposed to combat terrorism? Tears won’t heal the world, cut taxes, build a better health care system or feed the homeless.

Between those two, I am all for Obama. Just the though of an American President Dynasty with Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton gives me the gibblies.
I think that a common argument against Obama is his supposed “lack of experience”. But if you take a look at the major Democratic candidates, you see that they all have a similar amount of political experience. I found a good article on Slate talking about this supposed “lack of experience” in Obama..

“It is more important to hire people with the right qualities than with the right experience”
-Bill Marriott-
Although Obama, may not have the resume like Hillary’s, I think he has the right skills and qualities to lead the country to change. But what am I talking about, I’m Canadian.
Obama vs Osama. . . Unfortunately Americans aren’t the most worldly of people and I can see the ignorant making that mistake.
Maybe my Black card is in question, but I am very doubtful about Obama only because he hasn’t stated what his views are on any platform. I am all for change and a new and fresh face in Washington, but before I give him something as precious as my vote, I need to know what I/America would be getting themselves into. I’m all for a great orator, but is he that or just a great bullshitter?
I’m not against Obama as I am pro-Hillary, but the fact that I know what I would be getting with a Hillary vote makes me think twice.
I’m just as confused as yall. I really want to like Hillary because I feel she has a built in safety valve if she ever gets caught up in a situation she’s new to and I align with SOME of her policy.
I want to also love Obama but I know as a black man they’ll give him the Dinkins treatment and only give him love when things are all gravy. The moment it turns bad they’ll blame him for the countries ills. It will take an entire term to clean up Boy George’s mess so there’s a lot of scapegoating to be done. Now they’re talking recession? Oh boy. I gotta still think.
