Since Urban Observation debuted I’ve had plenty of friends send me observations of their own. They’ll say, “UT, you wouldn’t believe what someone said to me the other day” or “UT, let me tell you what I saw.”

 The following is an e-mail I received from a friend who works for a not-for-profit organization (or is it non-profit).

A woman wanted to donate Pathmark gift certificates to my organization to distribute to our families-in-need for the holidays! We were excited that someone would be so generous. When she called to confirm, she showed concern that the families might only use the gift certificates for beer and candy…Happy Holidays?!

Anyone drink beer and candy for the holidays? I thought that was something that everyone did. If she really wanted them to spend it on something worth her cash then perhaps she should have shopped for the food and then asked where she could drop it off.
