Walking into the office, each morning you have some people who speak to you and those who don’t. Often times you can pass someone up to five times without saying a word to each other. Then the afternoon comes and you finally say hi. Not because you have to, just because.
Plenty of us come in grumpy, flustered, bewildered or plain, old not in the mood to work today mode. Others come in pleasant but silent. But there is this one dude in the office that is always in a good mood. Never complains about anything. Always has a kind word to say. He even inquires about what your weekend plans are, wishes you well. Just says hello, while you’re sending a fax. You’ll see him a few times during the day and he’ll acknowledge your presence.
Having that type of energy in the office is great. But, for some reason I find it odd (not odd in a bad way). No one can be that nice all the time. He has to have a bad side about him. Why is he always so upbeat and gung-ho about life? Why do I find this behavior to be odd? Shouldn’t this be the norm?
My way of thinking is in need of a change. We can all take a page from his book on how to approach life each day.

Urban Thought | 2 Observations
Well, you KNOW I’d have to leave a comment on this one! It IS too bad that someone who’s always positive and friendly and upbeat is an oddity. As positive as I try to be I still am surprised when I encounter it in others, especially if they are like the sun: spreading their light every day!
I have met a few people like this and I admit, they have to convince me they are really this nice and positive! They don’t have to do this intentionally - I just have to keep observing them being consistent over time.
Sad,huh? But, if that’s being odd, I want to be odd!
I went through a very sarcastic and cynical period, although I stated it as being “realistic” Huh. Well, it was realistic because that was the reality I created!
Maybe you should go out to lunch with Mr. Nice Guy, see how he does it!
Well as the old school rap songs says…”The Freaks Come Out at Night.” And this guy has a freak flag when the sun goes down. No one can be like that all the time. It’s not human. He could also be sleeping with the hot office bombshell if you have one of those. If that’s the case, wouldn’t we all be like this? If it’s not, no one should be this way at work.
