Loud screams, crowds of people, the heat is on. It’s a fight. Everyone appears to be wet or about to be. No, no blood in sight but there is a gun involved. No one is getting hurt, unless it’s their ego.

It’s a water fight and the gun is actually a super soaker.

This is one fight in the streets of New York that anyone can have a good time partaking in or just watching.

Welcome to summer in NYC; where people can have fun with a few key ingredients. One standpipe (at full blast), one bucket (per person) or water gun, and three or more people (and let’s not forget the nice weather). It is the last week of school and it is time to celebrate.

See, this is how I remember the simpler times of my childhood. I never found myself involved in these youth games while living in the hood but I would appreciate it from far.

Everyone gets involved and there aren’t any hard feelings, at least for those who cared to get wet. If you are that girl who just put on that cute outfit and just got her hair did then you may want to avoid the fanfare.
