If you live in NYC you know how hard it is the catch a cab. Not because of the lack of cabs out there but because of how selective cab drivers have become in terms of what type of people they pick up. If you don’t know by now I’m a member of an ethnic group that cabs don’t stop for often.
I take this time out to thank Car 42 (the car’s dispatcher code) who stopped, took me to my destination and had light conversation with. But that isn’t the reason for this post. On what would have been a successful trek turned out to be a bummer for the cab driver when I only had a $50 bill on me and he had no change.
Making a long story short I ended up getting my ride for free. That isn’t something that would go over well with most cab drivers. But this kind soul of a person didn’t think twice about letting it slide. And I didn’t feel comfortable parting with such a large some of money, not that it wasn’t worth it but I have to get through the weekend on a budge.
So I send kind words to Car 42, much success and happiness to you. May you travel safe through the streets of NY or where ever your wheels take you.
