Nigger, Nigga: From the Original to the Remix

02.27.07 | User ImageUrban Thought | Comment?

NYC Council Member Leroy G. Comrie Jr. is leading the charge on the ban of the N-Word. After hearing black youth on a street in queens it seems as though with what time he has on his hands will introduce a bill to ban the word.

This day in age many youth don’t understand the impact of the word Nigger has had on the Black Community. Some may argue that it isn’t the same word. Instead of using the word Nigger they are actually saying the word Nigga, as if remixing the word makes it much better.

To make matters worse it isn’t stopping with the Black Community. It has now lead to the universal speech of youth from many cultures. Just the other day I was on the train and saw a bunch of (what I thought to be) Arab/Indian children calling each other “Nigga.”

Is it a battle worth fighting or should it be left alone?
