The Grammy’s (And The Love of TiVo)

TiVo is the greatest invention since slice bread premiered to the world some decades ago.

If it wasn’t for TiVo I would have missed one of the best Grammy shows of all time. Everyone and their momma performed.

But the performance that caught the most attention for me was Mary J. Blige. Something about maturity has taken over her. No more of that gritty voice. Someone has gone and pulled her vocal cords out, brushed, dusted, shaved scrap metal, polished and reinstalled them to give her a more crisp and vibrant sound (actually, she hired Shirley Caesar’s vocal coach). With all the soul the Queen has to offer she gave one hair raising performance that called for a standing ovation.

I’m tired of typing. There were other people there who did the damn thing. A blond chick, some legend dude, a wonder of an artist, and many others. Not to mention a great tribute to the Godfather of soul (who would have not been proud, now if we can just get him buried).

I wish I had Tivo. I’m disappointed that I missed it. I heard her performance was really good.

I heard on the radio this morning that she thanked over 50 people during her 2 minute acceptances speech, but she forgot to thank Diddy! Wasn’t Diddy the one who produced her recent album that won her the Grammys?

No. Diddy had very little to do with it at all. This is why she had to make a “come-back album” (what the press is calling it).

She Executive Produced this with her husband.
