The MTA sponsors a contest each year for entertainers so they can perform in select New York City Transit Stations. Through my journeys today I came across two of these entities feeling the music and getting the crowd motivated. One was an older black woman with a voice that deserved to be along side folks such as Aretha Franklin and Shirley Caesar. This woman put it down and felt the words of the song she sang (which escapes my memory at this time). As she feels the music she can’t help but engage in audience participation.
On the other side of town we have a blues band laying down the funk like nobody’s business.
If you want good entertainment it doesn’t have to cost you more than a MetroCard swipe (and maybe a tip or two). Just ride the MTA cause at some point in time its going your way, the way of music.
