I had a conversation with someone the other day regarding a particular situation which I will not get into at this time. At the end of this conversation, which I won’t get into, she said to me “perception is reality.”

I thought to myself, “What the hell does that mean and what does it have to do with the situation at hand?” After careful thought and consideration of this phrase I went home and rested.

The following day I was working with a group of folk and came across a situation that made the statement more believable, but with a twist. This female at my job wasn’t working up to par. One of the other supervisors spoke to her about it and she said to him, “I thought things were going quite well.” Ladies and Gentlemen what she has convinced herself of is that her work meets the standards that we are looking for. So she perceived herself to be working up to par. But that isn’t the case at all. The phrase should really read: “Your Perception is Your Own Reality.” Please make a note of it and get real people. For what you believe to be orange can actually be dark yellow in someone else’s mind.
